Results are typically posted on The State Bar of California's website eight to nine weeks after the exam date​​.

The MBE tests Constitutional Law, Contracts/Sales, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, Federal Civil Procedure, Real Property, and Torts. California-specific essays may cover Business Associations, California Civil Procedure, Community Property, California Evidence, Professional Responsibility, Remedies, Trusts, California Wills and Succession, and all MBE subjects​​​​.

The California Bar Exam is a two-day examination. Day 1 involves three 60-minute essay questions in the morning, two 60-minute essay questions and one 90-minute Performance Test in the afternoon. Day 2 consists of the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam split into morning and afternoon sessions with 100 questions each​​.

California permits foreign law graduates and lawyers to sit for the bar examination, with no restrictions based on nationality or residence. This open policy helps accommodate a diverse range of applicants​​.

There is no limit on the number of times you can retake the California Bar Exam​​.

A passing score for the California Bar Exam is 1440 out of 2000 points, with the MBE accounting for 50% of the total score, and essays and performance tests making up the other 50%​
